Reports are emerging that Southampton want to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge in the January transfer window.
Initially they want to sign the England International on a loan deal with a view to making it a permanent move next summer.
Sturridge is not an automatic first team choice at Anfield, he has fallen down the pecking order, mainly because of injuries, but also because his manager Jurgen Klopp does not appear to have confidence in the 27 year old attitude.
Klopp seems to refer Roberto Firmino up front over Sturridge and there is little evidence that will be changing any time soon.
Southampton are not the only club interested in the striker, West Ham, Stoke City and Italian giants AC Milan are also reportedly keen, however they all have concerns over his fitness and the Saints remain in pole position to sign the £25 Million rated hit man.
Sturridge remains a fan favourite at Liverpool, but the fans trust Klopp and they are fully aware that the player probably has no long term future on Merseyside and that it is just a matter of time before he is sold.
