After coming under much scrutiny for not spending a dime in the transfer window so far, Tottenham is closing in on their first summer signing.
The Lilywhites have come under attack from fans, analysts and bosses of rival clubs for not adding new players to their squad so far, with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte claiming Mauricio Pochettino is not expected to challenge for any competition at White Hart Lane.
However, Pochettino is about to delve into the transfer market as he targets a reunion with Southampton’s third choice goal keeper, Paulo Gazzaniga.
Poch knows the Argentinian from his time as the manager of the Saints and believes he has the potential to be a top class goalkeeper.
Gazzaniga has been in England for a long time and joined the Saints from Gillingham, he is expected to challenge Michel Vorm for the second choice spot behind Hugo Lloris.
The deal is expected to cost Tottenham £2 million.
Spurs are also monitoring Ross Barkley’s situation in Everton, and they are expected to land him if he doesn’t sign for any of his other suitors by the last few days of the transfer window.
